What are the Crusades?

Like I said in the home page the Crusades was one of the reasons that feudalism ended. The Crusades are wars that in which Muslims and Christians fought in for the holy land, which was Jerusalem. For many years the Muslims had "the holy land" which was Jerusalem. Jerusalem was important to all the religions in the Middle Ages including the Jews, Christians, and the Muslims. Since it was a big place for these religions the pope decided to fight for it back.

The first Crusade

The first Crusade launched off in 1096. There first stop was the Jews in Germany, because Europe blamed them for Jesus' death. On the way to Jerusalem the Muslims killed most of the unprepared peasants. When they finally got to Jerusalem(3 years later) they found that the Muslims were disorganized and not ready to fight, but they did, and a month later Europe took Jerusalem.

 Crusades later

The third Crusade went off in 1147 when France and Germany went to fight the Muslims. They lost. The fourth Crusade went off in 1187 when the Christians sacked Constantinople, and again they lost. Other Crusades happen but they failed, and the Muslims kept Jerusalem.
